ABACUS Mirra 10 – Compact Studio Monitor with a Big Sound
The Mirra 10 is the new, more compact sibling of the Mirra 14 and Mirra 15 – developed for everyone who needs a smaller or more affordable solution without compromising on the sonic virtues of the larger ABACUS models.
It was first introduced during a presentation at the SAE Institute in Hamburg, where students, graduates, and professionals from the audio and video industry immediately praised its exceptionally linear and extended frequency response.
Despite its 10-litre enclosure, the Mirra 10 performs with impressive composure down to below 20 Hz – controlled, precise, and completely free of any bass reflex system.
Design and Concept
The Mirra 10 is a two-way active loudspeaker with a sealed cabinet of only ten litres.
By deliberately omitting a bass reflex port, it delivers a dry, highly controlled low-frequency response that remains stable even when placed close to walls.
Because the room is less excited acoustically, the Mirra 10 is very forgiving in terms of placement – ideal for desks, console bridges, or smaller control rooms.
Thanks to ABACUS amplifier technology, the frequency response extends from below 20 Hz up to 20 kHz (± 1.5 dB).
Why ABACUS Loudspeakers Can Go So Deep
Even compact ABACUS loudspeakers are capable of astonishingly deep bass response – thanks to the unique DOLIFET amplifier technology, sealed enclosures, and precise electronic bass equalization.
As a result, low frequencies remain controlled and natural all the way down to the limits of audibility – without exaggeration or artificial enhancement.

Drivers
A 6.5-inch woofer with a lightweight paper cone and powerful motor system works together with a 1.2-inch dome tweeter, the same model used in the Mirra 14, Mirra 15, and Pivota 42.
The crossover frequency is around 1,250 Hz – exceptionally low for this class – providing a very smooth and coherent radiation pattern in both near- and ultra-near-field listening situations.
Electronics and Amplifier Technology
The amplifier electronics are derived from the proven Cortex series and employ three amplifier channels: one for the tweeter and two bridged channels for the woofer.
This configuration provides ample voltage swing and dynamic headroom, giving the Mirra 10 remarkable low-frequency authority despite its compact cabinet.
Like all ABACUS active systems, the Mirra 10 uses DOLIFET amplifier technology, ensuring maximum precision, minimal distortion, and outstanding control in the bass range.
Signal Processing (DSP)
Like the larger Mirra models, the Mirra 10 uses DSP-based signal processing.
Through the dedicated interface, the factory preset can be modified, and a custom user EQ can be implemented.
The original preset is available for download from the ABACUS website, and a YouTube tutorial explains the process using the Mirra 14 as an example.
Connections and Controls
The Mirra 10 provides a balanced XLR/TRS combo input as well as an unbalanced RCA input.
Three control knobs allow for flexible room and system adjustment:
-
Input Gain – input sensitivity
-
Bass Pad – bass attenuation for placement near walls
-
Roll-Off – variable low-frequency extension
The loudspeaker can be connected to any source that provides a high-quality balanced or unbalanced audio signal – such as audio interfaces, mixing consoles, preamps, or DACs.
Cabinet and Design
The cabinet is made of MDF and finished with a durable fine-textured structural lacquer.
Two standard colours are available: traffic white and grey-black, similar to the respective RAL tones.
The surface is easy to maintain and can be repaired if needed.
With its square footprint and fitted rubber feet, the Mirra 10 stands securely and requires very little space – perfect for desks and compact studio setups.
Applications
The Mirra 10 is designed as a near- and ultra-near-field monitor – ideal wherever the C-Box 3 or 4 may be too small and the Mirra 14 too large or costly.
It also works excellently as a secondary monitor, a surround or Atmos channel, or as a full-range main monitor in smaller project or home studios.
Thanks to its low crossover frequency, it can be used at extremely short listening distances.
Recommended room size: up to around 20 m², depending on acoustic conditions.
Due to its deep bass capability, the Mirra 10 is also well suited for producing bass-heavy electronic music, provided playback levels remain moderate.
Sound and Character
Like all ABACUS studio loudspeakers, the Mirra 10 combines a neutral, honest tuning with genuine musicality.
It enables precise, fatigue-free work and at the same time invites relaxed music listening – a balance that has long defined ABACUS loudspeakers and made them equally popular in studios and private listening rooms.
Manufacturing and Development
As with all ABACUS products, the Mirra 10 is entirely developed in Nordenham.
Most of the electronics manufacturing and final assembly are carried out there by hand with great attention to detail.
Components not produced in-house are sourced mainly from Germany and other European suppliers.
PCB assembly and final integration take place directly at the ABACUS facilities – ensuring consistent quality and long-term reliability.
Practical Feedback and Fine-Tuning
During the current pre-series phase, the Mirra 10 is already being tested by renowned producers, musicians, and sound engineers.
Their feedback is incorporated into the fine-tuning of the final production version – a proven ABACUS practice that gives each model an extra degree of real-world refinement and usability.
The Mirra 10 combines studio precision, deep-bass performance, and everyday usability in an unprecedentedly compact format – a genuine tool for sound professionals and music enthusiasts alike.
