The following essay is about the influence of the line-connection between e.g. a CD-Player or TV and the following amplifier.

If line-cables affect sound quality, it is almost exclusively the capacitance of said line-cable (in case of loudspeaker cables, it is their inductance). As long as the material of the cable is electrically conducting is not important, the type of material, be it cupped or gold, is definitely not important; electrons cannot distinguish between different types of cables. From time to time, many hi-fi enthusiasts spend a lot of money on new cables, assuming that thicker and pricy cables will improve the sound quality of their hi-fi system. That is a lot of money, which could be better spent on hundreds of CDs or other enjoyable things… If it sounds differently, it does not necessarily have to be better or worse. It may only be a few picofarad (1pF=0,000 000 000 001 Farad) which can influence the sound quality. Furthermore a given cable may work nicely with a certain output stage, but worse with a different one. Ideally, output stages should be independent of the cable. In the same way as ABACUS amplifiers eliminates unwanted behaviour of the loudspeaker, the ABACUS Line Driver eliminates every influence of the cable on the signal - no matter how long or expensive the cable may be. Right from the start, every output stage of ABACUS products are equipped with the Line Driver technology. CD-Player, preamplifier, TVs etc. can be set fixed using the ABACUS Line Driver in their output stage.
Several devices can be simultaneously connected to the output of a Line Driver and cables of arbitrary length can be used, e.g. to deliver audio signals throughout the whole house. Further the ABACUS Line Driver perfectly works as a headphones amplifier; a variable Line Driver represents a linear preamplifier. The best cable cannot compete with the ABACUS Line Driver. Even if the cable is free from any defects, the signal will be altered by the input stage of the succeeding amplifier or similar. The ABACUS Line Driver is originally not meant to improve sound, but to prevent unwanted influences on the signal by cables and output stages of following devices. However, the latter will improve sound quality as cables and output stages do not alter the sound anymore - and thus, cheaper cables can be used. |

Any ABACUS Line Driver and ABACUS preamplifiers possess two Line Driver modules. The small circuit board with the ABACUS Line Driver provides audio power for small consumer loads in Class A/B technology. The operational voltage of ±15V is able to deal with any typical line level. The Class A/B technology prevents transient distortions from the transistors, offering an astonishing low amount of distortion.
ABACUS Line Driver – Improving sound quality has never been easier!
ABACUS Line Driver possess zero output impedance, or: zero input impedance at the output. When connecting two audio devices, e.g. a CD-Player and a preamplifier, unwanted errors may occur due to the
• length, capacity, inductance and resistance of cables,
• capacity, inductance and resistance in the input stage of the successive device and
• interferences.
All of the above listed unwanted influences are eliminated using the ABACUS Line Driver. The length as well as the type of cable does not have an influence anymore. The output signal of the Line Driver is perfectly proportional to its input signal. Any cheap bell wire is sufficient and expensive cables become dispensable. The ABACUS Line Driver can easily be used with headphones, too.
